Mother's Day 2011 (mama's one week behind, go figure)

Having lived with Dr P for about five months now, I'm starting to pick up on some of his tendencies. Many of his character traits closely mirror ones of my sister, Aunt M, which is absolutely fantastic because I've always said that I need to settle down with someone like her. Someone with her mental organization and levelheadedness. Someone who would be able to coordinate their schedule as well as mine without going crazy. Only male and not related to me. Stuff like that.

On Mother's Day one of my suspicions of their similarities was confirmed. It seems that when Dr P has purchased a gift, dude CANNOT wait until the "special day" to give it. Aunt M has the same problem. One year she gave me my Christmas gift at the end of October. It was the Bridget Jones series on DVD and she ended up buying me a new gift come Christmas because she didn't want to feel like she didn't have a gift for me. Score!

The day before Mother's Day I got these gorgeous peonies, because that's just how homeboy rolls.

Peonies

And the peonies came with a gift card and an appointment for La and I to have our hair cut and styled together at a posh little salon in our town.

I can't begin to tell you how fun it was to go to the salon with my sweet girl.

Blowout

And both of our haircuts turned out great.

Thank you Dr P and La for making it a very special Mother's Day for me. Your gifts are always perfect. I'm so lucky to have the two of you.

Spring Fest

La's school's Spring Festival was on Saturday, and man if that wasn't the most anticipated event in our household since the release of Disney's Tangled on DVD. After an entire morning of La frantically asking, "IS IT TIME YET? IS IT TIME? IS IT IS IT IS IT?!!??" every thirty seconds ... finally it WAS TIME!! And La became A Woman On A Mission. Check out the look of sheer determination on that sassy mug.

Determination

Scary, man.

OnAMission

But then we arrived and I saw why she was so hell-bent on getting there and soaking up every minute available, because it was kind of awesome. Awesome in the sense of how a child feels going to a carnival and getting to ride all kinds of fun and crazy rides. But not awesome in the sense of how a mom feels taking her child to a carnival to ride all kinds of fun and crazy rides that are held together with hair pins, run on diesel fuel, and are spinning at the speed of light. Know what I mean?

TwistNShout

But she had an absolute blast. And Dr P and I had an alright time too. Especially when it was La's turn at the dunk tank. While she doesn't quite have Uncle A's arm, she definitely OWNED that tank.

All in all, a good day at the ranch.
